From September 3-4, a coaching conference of the CCI4EU project, titled "Comprehensive Cancer Infrastructures for Europe," took place in Milan, Italy. The CCI4EU project aims to strengthen comprehensive cancer infrastructures in the EU member states and associated countries.

Latvian scientists participated in this conference for the first time as experts. They also took part in consultations and working group seminars, discussing the progress of the project and agreeing with partners on future work organization.

Ilze Eņģele, the scientific leader from LU KPMI, emphasized that the conference focused on discussing the project's goals and the results to be achieved. "The conference gathered the largest number of experts in this field so far, whose knowledge and experience will help improve cancer patient care in various European centers. We discussed with the experts the expected challenges that may arise during the project. During the conference, expert teams were formed, which will head to selected Deep Dive centers. My colleague Elīna Sīviņa will go to the IPO clinic in Porto, Portugal, while I will visit a clinic in Bratislava, Slovakia," said I. Eņģele.

The project "Comprehensive Cancer Infrastructures for Europe" (CCI4EU) has received funding from the European Union’s Cancer Mission program under grant agreement No. 101103746.
